PLAY IN A DAY
One day.
One challenge.
One stage.
DRAMA TEACHERS; YOU KNOW THE POWER OF DRAMA, THE POWER OF CREATIVITY.
HELP US BRING THAT POWER TO THE WHOLE SCHOOL.
Which house will steal the show?
A professionally guided, whole-school challenge where House teams create an original production in just one day.
Play in a Day takes inter-house competition and turns it into something extraordinary. A full-scale creative challenge, across one single day.
Directors provided | Unique stimulus packs | Full event support
House teams work together to create, rehearse and perform their own original piece for the stage. Each House works with a professional Teaching Artist from the Australian Acting Academy, Students jump straight into the process, guiding students from first idea to final performance - students share ideas, make creative decisions, solve problems and bring a performance to life. It’s fast-paced, high energy and gives drama the spotlight it deserves.
Schools love the impact of whole-school creative events.
The excitement. The teamwork. The House spirit. The memories.
But we all know large-scale productions can place enormous pressure on staff through rehearsals, scheduling, coordination and budget demands.
Play in a Day captures the energy and connection of a major performance event and in one unforgettable day - an exciting outcome for all, without the pressure on staff, resources and schedules.
As the event sits across wellbeing, culture, student leadership and the arts, Play in a Day is often supported by schools by more than traditional drama budgets.

"Play in a Day enriches the collective life of the school while amplifying students' capacities for self-presentation, collaboration and creative participation. I am very happy to commend this initiative by the Australian Acting Academy as they bring this opportunity to Queensland Schools"

"Play in a Day delivers a lot of the things we were looking for. Quality experiences for students as makers and performers, where teamwork, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving come to the fore."

We shape each drama workshop around your students and your context.
Whether you're extending your drama program, engaging reluctant cohorts, supporting student wellbeing, or creating a meaningful creative experience, we work with you to create the workshop to best meet your needs.
Trained facilitators create safe, high-energy environments that support curriculum outcomes, classroom learning and broader school priorities. Students feel encouraged to participate, inspired to learn and grow in confidence.
Our facilitators understand both industry practice and educational environments, so you can feel confident knowing your students are engaged in workshops that are purposeful, professionally delivered and highly engaging.

Many schools would love to offer more extracurricular performing arts opportunities, but teachers are already balancing productions, curriculum demands and countless co-curricular responsibilities.
We handle the planning, facilitation and creative structure in consultation with your school, while students build confidence, acting skills, communication abilities and ensemble connection through engaging workshops, rehearsal processes and performance experiences.
The result is a thriving creative culture within your school community while making it easier for students to stay connected, expressive and creatively engaged beyond the classroom.
