Theatre Experience Day started as a way to bring our community together and showcase the original works students create. It is an opportunity for kids and teens alike to immerse themselves in creative liberation and work collaboratively to produce a brand new piece of theatre. They will create a brand new play in just 1 day!

The Play in a Day concept was born from the idea of making the impossible, possible. Building an entire play within a six hour window should not be possible, yet here at the Acting Academy we have produced hundreds. These fast paced, challenging, high energy events create an environment where students must focus and draw upon any training and skill that they may have to ensure that their cast are able to take to the stage and share their work with an audience. Unlike weekly rehearsals, where inevitable absences, illnesses and changes to the ensemble mean that students' focus can shift more to logistics than creativity, this gives the students everything they need to pull a piece of work together, and proudly share it with their family, friends and peers. The sense of accomplishment and recognition reassure our students that their creativity is seen, heard and celebrated.
HOW WILL THE DAY WORK?
All current AAA students, along with any new friends are invited to register for a Theatre Experience Day. For every 14 students, another coach is booked to create several casts of students based on the number of plays. Students will be grouped with people in similar age groups.
9.00am Students arrive at The Norman Price Theatre for marshalling, where they are introduced to their coach and their cast-mates. Parents are welcome to drop them off and go and do some shopping or hang out in Southbank until showtime!
9.30am We spin the wheel! Each group is given their stimulus pack and the work begins!
10am - 2pm Devising. This is where the rubber meets the road and we pull the show together.
2pm Tech Time. Each group will be given approximately 20 minutes on stage to run their show. Focusing now on transitions, placement on the stage and making sure we know how our show works.

3pm Performances. Each group performs their piece to their audience. Whether we’re showing one play or seven, we are here to celebrate creativity!

The event concludes with a group bow of all of the participants, where photos can be snapped and the true celebration of their achievement can begin.
Following the show refreshments may be made available for purchase as parents and friends meet their cast!
