Does your school champion creativity? Do you encourage students to expand outside their creative comfort zone? Does your school demonstrate creativity in both in-school and public events? If you answered YES to any of these, you need to register for the Australian Acting Academy Creativity Partnership Program. Simply click the button below or read on for more information.
How do schools qualify for the Creativity Partnership Program?
The Australian Acting Academy are looking for allies in creativity, so that we can support their practice and help them in any way possible. If you feel your school values creativity, you qualify for the program!
Every school who applies for Creative Partnership will receive drama and movement resources at no charge. These are suitable for secondary and upper primary schools. All school teachers can at times find themselves looking for fresh ideas on teaching drama. These resources will be just what you are looking for. You will also have permission to take these resources and share with your entire faculty. To get started, simply click here to register.
In addition to these resources, each term we select a number of schools that are close to any of our 11 locations and gift them a terms fees to award a creative student in upper primary (grades 4-6) valued at $285 and secondary school (grades 8-10) valued at $345. Students then get to train with us at no charge for training (a $30 uniform fee applies, but only after they have trialled the class and know they want to continue.) The main benefit to the schools who have given out these awards is that they have a seen a renewed passion for creativity, but not just in drama related subjects, across the board. Partner schools have also reported back to us that the confidence gained has seen marks improve, a greater sense of leadership and most importantly a positive disposition. A list of our locations can be found on the expressions of interest form.
How does it work?
It really is very simple for you to become a creative partner of the Australian Acting Academy.
1. Click and register your interest, 2. We will send you access to resources straight away so you can start using them in your school. 3. We will notify you of when have an award to present to a student at your school. We share these out amongst all our partners, so we do our best to make sure all schools in vicinity of an AAA location get at least two awards per year. 4. Selected schools will be sent digital versions of the creativity award, plus a letter confirming the total value of the awards to be distributed. We aim to keep this as simple as possible for school representatives. It's as easy as selecting the recipients, entering their name into the award, and sending it to them.
What is the criteria for selecting award recipients.
While the term of acting classes is the prize for the award, we believe that all young people should have access to the brilliant personal and professional development skills that the creative industries offer. Therefore we leave our criteria very loose. This means that school representatives can choose to offer the awards to students who demonstrate a natural affinity for the creative industries. While the Acting Academy is about cutting edge acting techniques, it is as much about personal development. So we are happy for you to award to students who may have expressed a desire to work in the creative industries OR those who may benefit from confidence building or alternative methods of expressing themselves. Our team are happy to consult with school representatives at any time to assist in the selection process.
What if we have more than one student who we would like to award?
Simply let us know. If we can award more we will, however some classes fill up. IF you have more than one student you can always give another award out in a different term. Wherever there is space we aim to have at least one new award a term.
Can I nominate the same student more than once?
Each student is only eligible to receive one creativity award. This is primarily to ensure that we can offer as many students as possible the chance to train with us. In fact IF a student has trained with the Australian Acting Academy in the past 6 months, they will not be eligible for the award.
What's the catch?
None. Seriously, if we offer you an award and you choose to not award it, that is ok. If you have no AAA location near your school, or you are regional we can create a specific award for you, so you can give away holiday workshops. Simply let us know.
The creativity award provides recipients with free training for one term (7/9 weeks depending on the term). After that point they are welcome to continue with us at our normal cost, however there is no obligation for students to continue. We operate an opt-in model, so students must actively choose to continue. Some of our recipients love the classes and choose to continue training with us, some don't, ALL are grateful for the opportunity.
We know there are plenty of academic awards and sporting awards, we are simply filling the void with creativity awards. We value creative youth more than anything and this is our way of giving back.
As for the students you award, we ask that parents contact us to finalise their enrolment. This is for legal reasons on our end, and it protects your privacy policy. It also means that if a parent of an award winner doesn't want them to take up the award, they simply don't contact us.
While we love being promoted in school newsletters, we understand you will likely want to see first hand how we positively impact your student's lives. That being said we are a family business so all support is appreciated. We keep our communication to you, to a minimum. We have no need to spam you in anyway. Also at anytime, for any reason you want to cease receiving the resources. Simply email us at info@actingacademy.com.au and we will make it happen. If you have any more questions, or if we can help you with artist in residence or school incursions or workshops, call Brendan on 0412 728 628.
